Overview
In 'Guess the Right Price,' an interactive design project, I undertook the task of revitalizing a game (based off of the game show "The Price is Right") plagued by usability issues. As an interaction designer, I employed comprehensive UX and UI strategies to transform the user experience. By strategically reimagining the game's interface, I not only addressed existing problems but also enhanced user engagement. The redesign included the implementation of intuitive button placements, enticing incentives, and a cohesive visual design.
Results
As a result of the redesign, user testing revealed overwhelmingly positive feedback. Participants praised the new horizontal interface, the swipe-to-change-price feature, and the board game-like feel. These enhancements not only resolved previous usability issues but also significantly improved user engagement and enjoyment, leading to increased interaction and retention on the app.
Background
The 'Guess the Right Price' project emerged from the need to rejuvenate a gaming application grappling with usability challenges. As an interaction designer, my role was pivotal in orchestrating a comprehensive overhaul. Focused on elevating user experience, I strategically employed UX and UI techniques to craft an engaging, user-friendly environment that substantially improved the overall appeal and functionality of the game.
Problem
The original 'Guess the Right Price' game faced significant usability challenges, hindering user enjoyment and retention. Complex navigation and poorly placed buttons led to user frustration and a high bounce rate. Additionally, the lack of enticing incentives resulted in a diminished sense of accomplishment for players. Addressing these issues became the focal point of my redesign efforts as an interaction designer.
Solution
To rectify the issues in the original 'Guess the Right Price' game, I strategically redesigned the user interface, placing buttons intuitively to streamline navigation. Introducing visually appealing incentives and rewards not only enhanced user motivation but also contributed to a more satisfying gaming experience. The comprehensive UX and UI strategies implemented successfully transformed the game, encouraging prolonged user engagement and fostering a more enjoyable and rewarding environment.
